Keszü and Siklós solar power plants

Before GEI was established, in 2019 we began building our renewable energy portfolio around Pécs by constructing ten small-scale solar power plants, each with a capacity of 499 kW, selling electricity under the KÁT scheme. This was followed in 2023 by two further projects, with a capacity of 499 kW, but this time selling on the free market.

Tiszapüspöki solar power plant

The Tiszapüspöki solar power plant, commissioned in 2021, is part of the KÁT scheme. At the end of the construction works, we repaved Béke utca in Tiszapüspöki, and the two service roads built for the construction also help provide access to the local farmland. We carried out preliminary surveys to assess the environmental impacts, for which we undertook to conduct 3 years of biomonitoring.

Túrkeve solar power plant

We implemented the Túrkeve solar power plant, which falls under the KÁT scheme and was commissioned in 2023, on saline, waterlogged land that was only of limited suitability for agricultural cultivation. In the course of the investment, we made the site suitable for development using targeted drainage solutions, so the project did not take valuable arable land away from other uses.

Mezőcsát solar power plant

Commissioned in 2023 and operating under the KÁT scheme, the solar power park comprises five power plants located on adjoining sites. Covering more than 400 hectares, it is the largest solar power park in Hungary and one of the largest in Central Europe.

Paks solar power plant

The Paks solar power plant, commissioned in 2024, is the country’s first solar power plant of this capacity to operate on a purely market basis, selling the electricity it generates partly on the free market and partly under long-term PPA contracts. As a supplementary investment, we are also building a battery storage facility with a capacity of 21 MVA / 48 MWh alongside the power plant, and, as a further supplementary development, we have secured the facility’s connection
